Accident Prone Kids and “Goose Egg” on Head

First Aid

So the other night my little Hobbits were running around and dancing to music. For reason that still has me bewilderment, my oldest  thought it was a good idea to go under the coffee table… Yeah you can kinda see where this is going haha.

So I go into my room thinking I might read or maybe get some WoW time in. Then I hear this crashing noise. Then the screaming/crying… Every parent know this sound haha. So as I go down the little hallway I have, Lilly meets me half way holding her head crying and this is what I see.

I mean this “Goose Egg” as they call it. Was about the size of a silver dollar, maybe a little bit bigger. I felt so bad for her, still do. It has gone down some over night.. But it looks like she got into a bar fight and won HAHA!

  • If the child is conscious, keep him calm and still.
  • Do not clean the wound to avoid aggravating the bleeding. Just put a clean and sterile bandage over the cut.

  • Childproof the home by taking out objects or furniture that may constrict their movements.
  • Have them wear headgear when they go biking or skating,
  • Use the car’s seatbelt or safety seat while traveling.
  • After a serious bump in the head, do not allow the child to go back to daily strenuous activities until the doctor deems it fit.

Another long night.. No sleep

image

Yep… Having trouble YET again sleeping… Shocker there! Tried tea, taking a hot shower, nothing.. I guess the upside I’m up to date on The Walking Dead and Arrow haha. Also started reading two new books I’ve been meaning to read for sometime now.

I did find myself playing WoW again… I’m in trouble :) OOOOO!! I did get a new Nexus 7! This tablet is A-mazing!! I was running a HTC EVO View 4G for the longest time. Still a great 7″ tablet, just there are no more updates for it unless you root the thing. But anywho, Nexus 7 is one of the best tablets I’ve used, the only thing I’m not to big on was there was no mini SD slot. I mean I have the 32 GB N7 so memory isn’t a problem haha. But I guess you can just use the USB for all the file transfers.

Hmmm well I think I’m going to try and get some form of sleep. Or just lay in bed and play games HA. There really is no reason behind this post, just something random and help with the lack of sleep.

World of Warcraft down to 9.6 million subscribers

image

Today’s investor call for the fourth quarter of 2012 reported that World of Warcraft’s subscription numbers are now at 9.6 million subscribers, down from the reported over 10 million at Mists of Pandaria’s launch. This still makes World of Warcraft the largest subscription-based MMO out there on the market by a long shot, but the numbers have seen a dip. However, it doesn’t mean that Blizzard isn’t breaking records. Diablo III remains the #1 best-selling PC game at retail, and Mists of Pandaria came in at #3. Although subscriber numbers seem to have dropped, they have yet to reach the Cataclysm low of 9.1 million prior to the release of Mists. Keep in mind that these numbers are for the final quarter of 2012, ending on December 31, 2012 — so they may not count players that received the game over the holidays and subscribed after the new year. For more information, the official press release from the investor call is available online.

Gamer’s father hired online assassins to kill son’s World of Warcraft avatar

image

A father got so annoyed at his unemployed son’s addiction to World of Warcraft that he hired online assassins to kill his avatar, it has been reported. Chinese reports say Xaio Feng, 24, noted that he was being picked on by rather talented opponents on the game. When he talked to the players one of them, probably not a brilliant assassin after all, admitted he’d been paid to “kill” him. Reports say Feng left a software development job after three months and rather than search for work, played video games. Feng is quoted saying his video game addiction was exaggerated but has agreed to start looking for a new job.

‘World of Warcraft’ State Senate Candidate Wins Election

Add another demographic to the list of winners on Tuesday night; in addition to Democrats, women, and marijuana advocates, gamers scored a political victory in Maine’s state senate.

Colleen Lachowitz, the Democratic state senate candidate in Maine whose race drew national attention when the state’s Republican party attacked her for her world of warcraft persona, won election on Tuesday, ousting Republican incumbent Tom H. Martin Jr. by a little over 900 votes, according to the Morning Sentinel.

Lachowitz drew criticism from the Maine state GOP for comments the candidate made online while playing World of Warcraft (Lachowicz is a level 85 orc in the popular multi-player online role-playing game.) Only, it wasn’t Lachowicz herself who made the comments-it was Lachowicz’s warcraft alter-ego, Santiaga.

Santiaga said some not-so-nice things about Republicans, including conservative tax icon and promoter of the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge” Grover Norquist. Santiaga commented that she “may have to go and hunt down Grover Norquist and drown him in my bath tub.”

Republicans launched a series of attacks against Lachowicz, maintaining that their criticism was not based on Lachowicz’s gaming habit, but rather the comments made by her alter-ego while gaming.

“This is not about her playing video games, this is about the comments she made while gaming,” David Sorenson, communications director for the Maine Republican Party, told ABC News, referring to the comments about Norquist, as well as things said about other Republicans. “These are all things that are unbecoming to a state Senator.”

The attacks didn’t sway voters though. Lachowicz, who works as a social worker in Kennebec, Maine, is now a state senator-elect in the Pine Tree state.

Supporters and fellow gamers flooded Lachowicz’s facebook page with comments after her victory was announced.

“Victory Fanfare,The only thing to play! CONGRATS from Darkgoddess! (Gorefiend US)’” one supporter wrote.

“Lvl 90 Goblin Hunter signing in to say a hearty Congrats! to you for showing the world that we gamer girls really are EVERYWHERE, so you GOPers better watch out from now on hehe! IMO you are an inspiration…” said another.
