For the Star Trek book challenge I read: Relics (Star Trek: The Next Generation) by Michael Jan Friedman.. This book is great and mile above Jeri Taylor’s craptastic book.
Another cross over episode/book…. Also A LOT better than the last book…. This book is a must read! Even if you are familiar with the episode, this book gives you more detail as to how Scotty gets stuck in that transporter. The scene where Scotty recreates the original Enterprise on the holodeck (while drunk). It gives that scene and Scotty’s emotions a lot more depth/meaning, and is more entertaining. The book does a good job of adding to the story line that was already in place. It smart and funny as well as a fast read.
It you get a change, read this book and watch the episode again!! It’s a classic on every level.
Plot out line for the book is:
The U.S.S. Enterprise discovers the wreckage of a starship upon the monstrous surface of a Dyson sphere, an artificially-constructed habitat built around a star; and preserved in a weak transporter pattern is Starfleet engineering legend Montgomery “Scotty” Scott. Mr. Scott boards the Enterprise to find himself lost in a world that he barely recognizes, a world that has passed him by. But soon the Enterprise finds itself trapped within the Dyson sphere and pulled into the star, and Scotty must work with Lt. Geordi La Forge to rescue the Enterprise.
Since I have an N64 cartridge of this one I owe it to myself to attempt to conquer this game. I never could quite get past the more difficult levels in this one. Overall an amazing game, every bit as good as it’s predecessor, Doom.
So awhile back I made a post about Star Trek: Renegades called: Folk Remedies For Improving Your Life Using Only Star Trek. It’s a fan film and or a fan supported internet TV Series. In which this would be the pilot episode. But on Aug. 24, 2015 they released the completed film on YouTube free to view!!
The story line as they put is goes as follows:
When a seemingly unstoppable new enemy threatens the very existence of the Earth, Admiral Pavel Chekov (Walter Koenig) is forced to work outside the boundaries of Starfleet’s rules to combat this deadly new foe.
When planet after planet winks out of existence, yet Starfleet refuses to act, Chekov turns to Commander Tuvok (Tim Russ, who also directs), the new head of Starfleet’s covert operations division, Section 31. Together, they assemble a new elite strike-force, consisting of rogues, outcasts and criminals, led by the fearless yet haunted Lexxa Singh (Adrienne Wilkinson).
The Renegades’ mission is simple: take on an army and stop their leader, Borrada (Bruce Young), from destroying the Earth. Outnumbered and outgunned, the ragtag crew is in an adrenaline-pumping race against time and space. But they soon find their foes are the least of their concerns: the real trouble may be coming from within!
Star Trek: Renegades stars Walter Koenig (reprising his role as Admiral Chekov), Adrienne Wilkinson, Sean Young, Manu Intiraymi, Gary Graham, Robert Picardo, Corin Nemec, Bruce Young, Tim Russ, Chasty Ballesteros, Edward Furlong, Courtney Peldon, Larissa Gomes, Richard Herd and Herbert Jefferson Jr., and introducing Crystal Conway.
Star Trek: Renegades – boldly going where no Trek has gone before!
Yes you read that right… There is a video making it’s way around the interwebs called “Japanese Doctor Who”. With a description,”Found a clip on old video tape 1970′s? 80′s?…like a Japanese version Doctor Who. Anyone?” By lepoissonriuge
It’s rather enjoyably oddly enough hahaha! It’s like you take Power Rangers and mix Doctor Who with each other and this is what you get. The whole film was done with a 1970’s grind house style shooting. Campy and EPIC in it’s own right. Well done sir!
Personally I can’t wait for the movie to drop. In fact I already have tickets for opening night. But…. I think the merchandise is going a little to far. Almost cheapens the experience really. Not everything needs to be Star Wars. Point and case:
That’s just the tip of the iceberg really. I mean, don’t get me wrong! I love the fact Start Wars is coming back. But every where I look there it is. Star Wars this, Star Wars that…. It starting to make me miss the days of having to put effort into find items or make my own.
My word… Oh well… I’ll get off my soap box now and go play with my BB-8.
