“Fat-shaming is not a thing. Fat people made that up. That’s the race card, with no race.” – Nicole Arbour

So with the buzz going around the interwebs about this Nicole Arbour video called “Dear Fat People…”. By the name alone you kinda get an idea on where this is going haha. You can’t find this video on YouTube anymore, they took that down. In fact YouTube took down Nicole Arbour whole channel & her website is gone as well. Sadly you can see more of her videos on Facebook/Twitter as well as “Dear Fat People…”. I watched the video and was in total bewilderment on what I just saw…. She tries to be funny… It’s not even trying really… It’s the train wreck type of thing, where someone thinks that they are funny. But aren’t.. But they continue anyways and fail on every level. The “Dear Fat People…” was upsetting, more annoying than anything else really. But way beyond called for. I’ve watched some of the other videos that she had made. Again,  bewilderment….

This girl really has no talent. I mean if you go to her Wiki page it lists off her Dance and Cheerleading career. Lack of music career. I mean the whole thing reads like what we call in the comic world; “A One Shot”. Now let me state that my “internet career” isn’t anything magical as well. But I stick to what I know: Blogging, Podcasts, Gaming! I have a normal job, I have to save up to go to conventions or events. I rarely get a free pass invites events, etc. You know what? That is fine really. I thankful for what I have and where I’m at and the people who I know/work with on a everyday basis.

Anywho, that’s off topic…. But this video is way beyond anything of rational thought. She goes on to promote Fat Shaming. Stating that we should Fat Shame people into losing weight.. That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works!

“Fat-shaming is not a thing. Fat people made that up. That’s the race card, with no race.”

“If [I] offend you so much that you lose weight, I’m OK with that, You are killing yourself.”

“What are you gonna do, fat people? Are you gonna chase me?”

You know… It’s a rare thing for me to jump on the internet train when people are upset about some like this. I’m not one you get into the middle of internet/YouTube drama. But this hit a cored with myself. I as a kid and as an adult, have had this never ending battle with weight. In middle school and freshmen year high school I was at 300 lbs. At the end of high school in to college years I got down to 160! Then 185 and that is normal for my size, being 6’2. But over the past few years I’ve been going between 185 to 290. I’m at 260 right now. I know in my younger years the weight was a hard topic for me and was vary embarrassed about how I looked and was made fun of. But now a days I really don’t care what people think, most of the time. I find myself wanting to lose weight, not for other people. But for healthy reasons. Oh sure I have my vices and a lot of people do! And that is okay! I’m sure my guilty pleasures aren’t going to go away anytime soon. HAHA Just some nights you just want M&M’s!

But this whole things is blown up and people like boogie2988 or Meghan Tonjes have made a response video to this “Dear Fat People…”. It’s nice to see the other side of the coin and people react in the appropriate matter. Here are the videos below:

Anyways. There is my two cents. I’m happy with who I am and how I look. If that bothers people, then I think they need to take a look into a mirror at them self’s. Because people like this Nicole Arbour state that they are doing for a laugh, it’s all a joke. It’s really not.. No tact what so ever….

Please feel free to comment below and share your story or thoughts on this issues!! I would really like hear them..

Dang, that is messed up! I have never been overweight (though according to my BMI I am overweight and recently I have hit 200 lbs and can’t seem to lose weight and get back down to where I was) but my Dad has always been a big guy and I remember hearing all sorts of crap from some of my “friends”. So, how does telling me my Dad is really fat help anything? No duh he’s a big guy, what the heck do you care!? MInd your own business!

It looks like this video really blew up in Nicole’s face. I’m glad so many people stood up to her, because everything she said was just hateful! She’s like a stereotypical mean girl straight out of some terrible 90’s movie!

I think a much more effective “Dear Fat People” video would be from someone who is big themselves and starting out on a journey of weight loss, or someone who used to be overweight and fought their way down to a desired weight. They sure as heck wouldn’t be shaming others because they’ve been there! I bet you this Nicole has never struggled with weight in her whole life and I doubt she worked hard to maintain her weight! Some people eat terrible and rarely exercise and they never gain weight because they have a good metabolism! Heck, Shia Labeouf’s “do it” motivational speech would make me wanna lose weight more than this Nicole person I never heard of until now!

And one more thing, I can’t stand the lie that because you are overweight you will never be attractive. Bull! There are so many larger women that are GORGEOUS! Media has demonized the heck out of larger folk that so many of us believe that if your big you’re bad, or lazy. HELLO, Santa Claus is big and he’s awesome!

And as far as fat humor goes, Chris Farley was my favorite big boned comedian. Jim Gaffigan is the current king of weight and food jokes, he’s actually funny. Nicole’s jokes are just lame, humorless, and just plain hurtful!

I could go on, but I will leave it at that.

I agree fully. The humor and jokes that Chris Farley, George Carlin, Sam Kinison brought to the table were funny. Let us not forget Gabriel Iglesias!! They are funny with everything and able to take to another level and be serious. What she is doing… Tragic and cruel and not even remotely funny.
My sister sent this Nicole a message just giving her both barrels:
” I saw that Nicole Arbour video last night, it was what everyone is saying it is. I feel like people on the internet forget that words are actually really powerful and can make or break people. Nicole’s words were hurtful and she is saying it was for the sake of ‘comedy’. I didn’t know that having a body-type was humorous to her? All the comments on her discussion page is just how she was a prime example of fat-shaming. I would have to agree with all of them. I even say something to her on her discussion page.”
    and
“Your video about how fat-shaming does not exist is bullshit. There ls such a thing as fat-shaming. Just like there is skinny-shaming You are obviously a beautiful woman who is proud of your weight, good, be proud. However, you are not a doctor. You do not get to judge if someone is in a danger-zone of unhealthiness or not.
Body shape has nothing to do with health. You are healthy, so is someone who could appear bigger than you. I can agree that it ls important to be healthy, but you can tell that to people without being so rude and bullying people who are not your body type.
You are In no place to tell people that they are healthy or unhealthy Fat-shaming ls a real thing and you are the perfect and unfortunate example of it. Empower people without discouraging people. What you said is harmful, what you said will make people lose weight in the most dangerous way possible. You are a very toxic person and please actually think before you hit record. Your words do affect people in serious and dangerous ways People are listening, so please think before you speak.”
I guess now there is talk if YouTube/Google really took down her profile or not. Some people are saying she set it to private.
