Can we just appreciate this photoset for a second? Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia – Rolling Stone (1983)

THIS IS THE ONLY CONTEXT IN WHICH THIS STUPID COSTUME LOOKS GREAT.

Look at the difference here!! While it’s very well-documented how much Carrie Fisher (rightfully) hated that metal brass nightmare, and it’s well-documented the horrible controlling crap she put up with in order to get her body into this shape, she looks like she owns it in these photos. She looks happy and in power and in control and comfortable in it – and happy. That’s SO great and it makes an aspect of one of the hands down most toxic things about Star Wars fandom (the glorification and sexifying of the most degrading moments of one of the most powerful characters in the film) a little palatable.

I love these.
