Buck Rogers 40th Celebration Comes to Rogue Valley Comic Con

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the popular science-fiction adventure television series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and the Rogue Valley residents are set to celebrate the occasion with nobody but Buck himself. Actor Gil Gerard, who portrayed the title character, will be making a rare Oregon appearance at Meadowlark Comic Con on May 11th, at Ramada Medford Hotel and Convention Center. Gerard will be joined by Felix Silla who was responsible for the physical performance of the robot Twiki. Star Wars fans will also be able to meet Richard Oldfield who appeared as Rebel fighter pilot Hobbie Klivian (Rogue 4) in The Empire Strikes Back and delivered the line to Carrie Fisher “Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?” An American actor, Richard Oldfield has been living and working in the UK since the 1960s, and his Meadowlark Comic Con appearance is a rare chance for Oregon fans to meet one of the original trilogy Star Wars actors.

7 Years of Wizard World

So after everything was said and done with this years Wizard World Comic Con. They sent out a thank you email to all those who had a press pass. In the first paragraph it goes on about the positive feedback from guests and fans. Then it states that it was the 7th year… Wait what? Has it been 7 years? I have I been doing this for 7 years? Good lord…

This got me thinking about pass events and interviews or even stories I haven’t shared yet.. Some of them I changed my mind and didn’t want to share them. As silly as that sounds, I wanted to keep them to myself that the time. But the more I think about it, the more I just want to share them with everyone. So I thinking I’ll do a “Lost Tales of Wizard World” series in between current posts of this years event.

Buffy Reunion WW Portland 2019.jpgBut I have to say this year was amazing! It was a Buffy The Vampire theme Comic Con this year that’s for sure. Along with DC over tones from the movies and TV shows. The Artists this year were excellent, dare I say better than last years? I actually found myself buy more art work than anything this year and taking more pictures. The Cosplay was fantastic as well, which my kids loved it and took part in it as well.

But all that will be for other posts come out shortly. But I have some updates I would like share!! ON Jan. 24-26 of 2020 Wizard World Portland Oregon will be back! As of right now word on any guests or artists, it just to soon after. So Save the date!!

What Was Once Thought Lost

So I have written about this a few times now. About the autographs that my father gave me of the cast of Star Trek. How Shatner’s and Nimoy went missing or worst yet, STOLEN .. I even meet William Shatner and told him the whole story about it. Shanter even talked with my Father over the phone about it hahaha.

A Small Conversation With William Shatner & Bob Camp At Wizard World

Remembering Leonard Nimoy

Star Trek Book Challenge

I know there are a few more post that I have written. But for the life of me, I can not find them haha. Anyways, as I finish up moving. I found a little piece of blueish green paper stuck to the bottom of a old cigar box… Could it be?!? I disbelieve I handed the paper over to my girlfriend to make sure. It was William Shatner autograph!! So I now have my Father’s original autograph, plus mine.

Sadly I am still missing Nimoy and the pictures.. But I fear it maybe to late for his autograph. Unless I pay an ungodly amount of money.. Worst part is the missing pictures, they are family memories. Why would anyone take those? But this is a rather small happy ending, bittersweet if you will.

Nerd Out!!

nerdoSo around the beginning of the month I found this app by chance, called Nerd Out. Basically with this app it’s a community of nerds banding together to share information about events that are happening near by(to you). Or as they put it:

Nerd Out is a mobile nerd event calendar application available for download on Apple and Android devices. Discover nerd inspired events in an easily accessible calendar. Listing events like Comic Con, Lightsaber Battles, Geeks Who Drink, Tabletop gaming, Screenings, Trivia & more!

So on a random thought I thought I’d write to them and see if I can join up and represent Oregon. A few emails back and forth, I’m now a member of the Nerd Out crew :). Portland is the only city in Oregon currently listed on the app, I’m hoping that will change soon. I’ll be listing events from all over Oregon, seeings how I live in Lebanon, Or. myself. ALSO! As part of being with the Nerd Out crew I got this cool little shirt!!
