J.K. Woodward commented: “We are tying this story with the DS9 stories, to smooth over the continuity and tie it all together“.

Scott Tipton commented: “We do play off of the description of the state of the Terran Empire from the DS9 episodes, and explain that all may not have been as people out in deep space believed“. David Tipton commented that the story is: “… also is placed in the context of what we learned about what happened to the Mirror Universe from the Deep Space Nine episodes… when DS9 took on the Mirror Universe, they built up a unique storyline that supported multiple episodes“.

Now with this LootCrate issue Origin of Data, we find Data to be the main focus point here and going from normal machine to a Borg augmented killer. The art work is amazing and the story is is great. They really did a good job at making this a real story line and not some throw away comic. Sadly most trek comics are like that.. But I’m really like the Mirror Broken issues and want to go out and find the rest.

Star Trek Book Challenge 18: Guises of the Mind (Star Trek: The Next Generation #27)

Star Trek Book Challenge 18: Guises of the Mind (Star Trek: The Next Generation #27)

216871So on the challenge we have Guises of the Mind (Star Trek: The Next Generation #27) by Rebecca Neason… Not a bad book, it’s more of a filler really. Rather decent Deanna Troi story. It uses both her job and telepathic abilities to the fullest. The story is a bit of a ‘Man in the iron mask’ style. But that’s okay because I love that book as well, so meh.

Sadly there really isn’t much I can write…

Sadly there really isn’t much I can write or tell you about this novel. It’s just there hahaha, I mean here is the story plot of you:

The world Capulon IV is finally ready to join the Federation aften years of waiting. All that remains is the ruler’s coronation and a routine signing of the final treaty. When the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise™ and their passengers—a group of women from a religious order dedicated to helping the downtrodden—arrive for the event they expect to find a world willing and happy to receive them. Instead, they encounter deceit and treachery. The crown prince, once excited and eager to join the Federation, now refuses even to speak with Captain Picard.

Beaming to the surface in an attempt to work out the problem, Picard, Troi, and Mother Veronica, the abbess of the nuns, are drugged and captured. Now they must somehow escape and stop the crowning. If they cannot prevent it, the King will be omnipotent, with the power to destroy the Starship Enterprise and all of Capulon IV as well…

Little action, more of a mystery/drama novel really.. If you find yourself with a copy and some time to kill. I say give it a read haha.

Star Trek Book Challenge 16: Betrayal (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine #6)

AND we finally get to Deep Space Nine!!! For this challenge we’re reading Betrayal (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine #6) by Lois Tilton.

217935I was looking forward to this book and sadly I found myself looking forward to the one after this novel. It really kinda fell flat on it’s face there. The author uses only the main characters and doesn’t stray to faraway from that. Seems like this was new ground for…

Basically you take a “24” terrorist attack story line and change out the characters with Star Trek characters. There you go… Sadly I wish I was making it up.. It’s not a bad read really. Not enjoyable, it’s just there flouting along. I think O’Brien was the only really enjoyable part in the whole thing. But it this story line as been played out so much you can guess whats going to happen next. So I found myself jumping ahead in the book. To only find myself correct :(.

When terrorists threaten a conference of Federation ambassadors, Commander Benjamin Sisko must defuse a deadly situation before the terrorists destroy Deep Space Nine and the entire planet Bajor.

I say skip over this book and found something better. What is sad I’m seeing a lot of these Star Trek book are riddled with mistakes and lack of knowledge of the characters/history of the shows. It’s like they aren’t even trying. I find the older story lines with the original crew are more on point and more enjoyable to read. Once TNG & DS9 come out they are just pumping these things out with no thought what so ever. Anywho, I think I’ll make another post about my complaints on the Star Trek series.
