Eclectic Mayhem Podcast

Eclectic Mayhem

So for our next podcast on EMP, we’ll be going around a theme of robots. Kinda like who is your favorite all time robot or who is the most evil robot out there? OR if you get stuck on a island and had to pick one robot to be stuck with, who would you pick? Who would win in a fight: Johnny 5 or Sico(the Rocky IV robot)? You know, the important questions. OOOOOOO! Or if you can build your own robot…

OOOOOOO! Or if you can build your own robot what would it have and look like? Oh I’m sure there will be random bunny trails and off topic conversations happening. But that is the beauty of this podcast, it doesn’t matter what we are talking about. Anything goes!

J5 and Sico

I think that is why I am so jazzed(yes I used the word “jazzed”) about doing this podcast. Let alone the fact I had a helping hand in it’s creation. It’s nice to have the freedom and breathing room to do what you like in a podcast. Something I’ve noticed as well while editing the shows, is that is no down time or lack in between topics/conversations. I really don’t have to edit anything down much, it’s all natural and free. I mean the last podcast we did was almost that the 3 hour mark, and I hardly took anything out. In fact I had to add things in while editing the eps. I mean there is frame work for us to kinda follow, but we don’t have to if we don’t want to. That’s what I think makes this podcast great.

Now don’t get me wrong, working on other podcasts like Geek Fallout & the Comic Book Eps. are fantastic! With out them EMP would not be here, I wouldn’t be in the place I am now. Being in the Geek Fallout podcast has been a blessing for myself and has open SO many doors and abilities. I’ve known how to edit things before, but thanks to the GF podcasts I have leveled my skills up and beyond. Now being a Co-Host & Editor for Geek Fallout Podcast and now Co-Creator, Editor & Co-Host for Eclectic Mayhem Podcast I couldn’t be happier! Working with funny and amazing people as been great and I can’t ask for anything more. Plus being able to do with my better half Carly Vore is great, she also takes part in my website Nerdy Life of Mine. Which reminds me, we need to do another StarGate podcast for Geek Fallout SOON!

But I can’t wait till we can do the robot podcast for Eclectic Mayhem! if you haven’t’ hear our last podcast called “Never Feed Us After Midnight”, you should check it out! It’s all full of those screechy-voiced little glue-sniffers, The Gremlins. After discussing both Gremlins (1984) and Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990), the EM Crew also talk Ghoulies, Critters and Munchies [oh my!]. Air conditioner on the fritz? Is your video recorder conked out? Well, turn on all the lights, check all the closets and cupboards, and look under all the beds, ’cause there’s a brand-new episode of Eclectic Mayhem. Link for the podcast is right here!! Eclectic Mayhem Episode 2: Never Feed Us After Midnight

Had an interview on Friday for a new job for a new restaurant that is opening up with a new convention center, that is all part of the hospital & college in my area(went really well & from the sounds of it. I have the job, I’ll find out in a week’s time.). Then I have two more interviews on Monday! Doing tech support and a “Remote Services Technician- Client Services Remote Services Technician”, as well as training other technicians on networking/computer development. All of them are good jobs, the pay is about the same, just one I get to work from home more than be out in the field.

I’ve also started lining up a course layout at The Art Institute of Portland… So far the cost is coming out to be 33k give or take a dollar, for 4 years to get my BS degree & maybe another 4 more years if I want to continue on to my Masters. Still a work in progress.. It’s been a busy 2 weeks haha! We also got a new car, yes we finial retired the nerd cruiser. It’s been along time coming tho with that car, just needed a massive upgrade.

* Star Trek News*

startrek3tvshowsimilaritySo Simon Pegg had an interview with Comic Book Resources about the new Star Trek movie that to becoming out July 2016. Mister Pegg said:

“I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know, where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation,” he said. “But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”

The new Star Trek movie has gone through several directors since the third installment was first announced. J.J. Abrams, who now serves as a producer in order to take charge of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Then writer-director Roberto Orci, who was later given the boot for “Fast Five’s” Justin Lin. Personally I can’t wait to see what the movie as become. I had my doubts at first… I enjoyed both movies in fact, I rather liked the 2nd one. But witht he 3rd movie changing so many writers & directors it’s never a good sign. But once Pegg came in and started writing. A sigh of relief come forth haha. I haven’t seen a movie I didn’t like Pegg in and when you have Frost and Pegg together it’s just gold.

20150328_153248The other day we also started building some flower beds in the back yard as well as a small green house. It was a nice few hour project and I think it turned out rather well :). We still need to get planting dirt and rocks for the walk way we’re going to be adding in between the house and flower beds. Right now we have a variety of tomatoes, herbs, and lots of peppers. Also broccoli, brussel sprouts, onions etc…. You can’t see in the pictures. But there is a bigger garden where we grow everything else, I believe later on we’ll be planting some corn, potatoes, pumpkins(maybe).

Origa Some rather sad news I found out a couple of days ago. Being a long time fan of the Ghost in the Shell series and the music. The singer Ol’ga Vital’evna Yakovleva pasted away on January 17, 2015, she was only 44. Her death was due to lung cancer. Composer Yoko Kanno, and both the first season’s theme song, Inner Universe (featuring boy soprano Ben Del Maestro) and the second season’s theme song, Rise used Origa’s vocals. Origa first performed with Kanno for A Gundam, singing Gabriela Robin’s “Moon” with the Gey’s AX chorus. In 2005, Origa performed songs for the anime series Fantastic Children, most notably the ending theme “Mizu no Madoromi”.

Koukaku.Kidoutai.GHOST.IN.THE.SHELL.full.1548076In 2006 Origa was involved in lyrics & vocal performance for the opening song (“Player”) and the ending theme (“date of rebirth”) from the movie Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society. In 2007, Origa performed with Yoko Kanno for the Ragnarok 2 Concert. There, she performed all three Ghost in the Shell opening themes; “Player” for Solid State Society, “Inner Universe” for the first season, and “Rise” for 2nd Gig, and substituted for Ilaria Graziano on “Yoru_Vo”, Pierre Bensusan on “ELM”, and Gabriela Robin on “Torukia”. She also performed alongside fellow vocalists Maaya Sakamoto and Mai Yamane and joined in singing selected songs originally performed only by Maaya.

On 19 December 2008, she performed at Sugizo’s “Rise to Cosmic Dance” concert held at Tokyo’s Shibuya-AX hall. She later appeared on his 2011 single “The Edge”. In 2014, Origa came to Anirevo (Anime Revolution) in where she performed in concert. She performed songs from the Ghost in the Shell series and a medley of many other theme songs. She also participated in a panel with Production I.G. CEO Mitsuhisa Ishikawa.

Stargate_SG-1_cast_minus_Jonas_Quinn So I was looking around the interweb and looking up news & updates on Stargate.. I’ve done a podcast a few months ago based on Stargate and planed on doing more. Sadly it’s been pushed back more times than I care to voice. Here is the podcast if you care to listen: (Stargate Podcast)

But it looks like it’s movie along and I’m not to sure if I like what they are doing… From my understanding Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods are in “final negotiations” to write what will now be the first film in a trilogy of franchise-destroying films which will include absolutely no reference to Sam Carter, Ronon Dex, or Eli Wallace…. Yes you read that right! NO REFERENCE! Wright and Woods are also working on the as-yet-unseen Independence Day 2.. So I’m a little worries about this. Dean Devlin, co-writer of the original movie, told The Portland Business Journal that the new trilogy will be millions of light years away from the original. Here is the quote:

“The Stargate thing is a different story. We did the original Stargate as an independent movie. It was a surprise success. Shortly before the movie came out, the financiers who were frightened the movie might not do well sold the film to MGM. When the film came out, it was a hit and spawned TV shows.

Of all the projects I’ve ever done, Stargate is the only one from the beginning intended to be a trilogy. We always wanted to do parts two and three, but the thinking was they didn’t want to do anything other than the TV series. So literally for 20 years I’ve been chasing this project. Twenty years later, we can’t really do part two. We have to start over from the beginning. So let’s reboot the series, put in all the things we couldn’t the first time, and set it up properly. Stargate created an expansive cinematic universe that has engaged fans for two decades. Under the guidance of Roland and Dean, these new films will build upon the creativity and popularity of the first film, while delivering an original film-going experience for fans and those new to the franchise.”

tumblr_mm05lmOCfq1rk6smno1_500I understand that they want to do what they originally set out to do. But You have SO much history there with the SG-1, Atlantis & Universe. You can’t ignore what has been done. Can you?? personally I think leaving Sam Carter, Ronon Dex, or Eli Wallace would be a mistake. The other rumor is that they are doing away with Jack O’Neil as well or remaking his character.. I guess time will tell in the end. Specially once ID42 comes out, we’ll get to see what kind of story tellers Nicolas Wright & James A. Woods. 😦

Okay well this post as been every where and I’m not sorry about that haha! I really just left this open and kept adding to it through out the day. I think I’ll this again some time.
